The 23rd Annual San Diego International Conference
on Child and Family Maltreatment - 2009

– CONCEPTS • ROUND 1 –

These (very) rough comps are at the earliest stages of the design process. The fonts shown on the following concepts are picked up from last year's design and will be replaced with appropriate fonts and colors in the concept that you choose. The design that is picked will be developed and enhanced to take full advantage of the concept.

Concept 1

Numerous hands reaching upward.

(Please keep in mind that the fonts, colors, and sizes of elements will all be designed to enhance the concept chosen.)

Concept 2

Outstretched hands in the photo is repeated as a ghosted blue image in the background.

Concept 3

A bright, colorful graphic look using silhouetted hands.

Concept 4

A clean, graphic look of earth tones on a field of white. Color would also be provided by full color photographs sprinkled on the interior pages.

Concept 5

A glowing globe cradled in hands.

Concept 6

Another version of the globe cradled in hands, in this case, children's hands.

Concept 7

A posterized effect is applied to this photo to create a more graphic representation. The photo has been cropped to emphasize the hands.

Concept 8

A photographic treatment with arms reaching upward and drawing the eye up to the conference name.

Concept 9

A circle is created by surrounding hands. One possibility is to highlight some element within that circle: perhaps a color photo or some words?

Concept 10

Another photographic treatment. This is a beautiful image with a spiritual quality.
