PMA 2007 Publishing University cover designs round #2.

This is the original design concept 4a.

It featured ghosted blank pages floating through space, a stretched italic font for the tag line, and motion trail effects.

An earthy mono-chromatic color palette, with three dimensional metallic type in the title that uses a colligate style typeface complete the concept.

 

We begin our refinements with design concept 4b …

We enlarged the title type and used a more business-like font, we enlarged the tag line, and we smoothed out the special effects to enhance readability.

The headline features a sophisticated three dimensional metallic gold effect.

With design concept 4b-version 2 …

We use a different non-italic font for the tag line with all caps.

With design concept 4b-version 3 …

We add a touch of the color purple to the design to living it up a bit.

With design concept 4b-version 4 …

We brightened up the three dimensional gold title and modified it's drop shadow to make it more readable.

We changed the presentation of the tag line, gave it a yellow-gold color, and added another tinted transparent box behind it to give it more pop.

AND WE HAVE A WINNER!

AND THE WINNER IS …

Here we make final refinements to the WINNING design concept 4b-version 5

We changed the tag line font to a more elegant font (Trajan Pro) which is an all caps font with slightly larger letterforms beginning each word … and we corrected the typo on Boundaries.

It's a wrap! Beautiful.

Now let's move on to the original design concept 2a.

It featured subtle ghosted images of clock faces stretching time in space, gears turning, and the iris of an eye, on a warm golden mono-chromatic background.

Subtle motion trails stretching through space on the three dimensional metallic tag line, and glass-like transparency effects on the large PMA logo complete the concept.

Our refinements with design concept 4b include …

Enlarged title type for better readability, a simpler more business-like tag line, simplified image effects, and more colors to brighten things up.

We also introduced the a simple ghosted grid stretching and fading back in space, simplified the image elements, and added a subtle boarder to quite things down.

With design concept 4b-version 2 …

We added a subtle motion trail to the word "Stretching", and the large key words "Passion", "Planning", and "Profitability" with colored outlines and translucent fills.

With design concept 4b-version 3 …

We simplified the design even more by removing the ghosted image elements.

The large key words "Passion", "Planning", and "Profitability" have the same colored outlines, but the fills are now tinted translucent graduations.

With design concept 4b-version 4 …

We filled the outlined keywords with a colorful blend, and added some motion trail effects to add impact.
